Why do you want to take part in Wild Coast hike? (200 – 300 words)
I am extremely interested in this opportunity since I am passionate about both terrestrial and marine life. I obtained a degree in BSc Marine Biology at the University of KwaZulu Natal and I have completed my honours degree in Biological Science. I am currently fulfilling my dream as a marine research intern at Wild Oceans where I am exposed to various opportunities such as this one. I have chosen my career based on my ability to excel when doing something I love. I am always seeking to expand my knowledge in all ways.

I absolutely love the outdoors and I am open to new experiences and adventures. I love having the freedom to follow my passion and conservation is important to me as it should be for everyone. I believe educating and informing the public on environmental issues is a worthy endeavour. This hike will allow me to broaden my horizons both physically and mentally. I would also like to gain new transferable skills that I can apply to every aspect of my life. I strive to go above and beyond since I truly want to make an impact. It would be an honour to take part in this hike with like-minded yet uniquely inspired individuals.

Why are you interested in receiving environmental journalism training? (200 – 300 words)
To my knowledge environmental journalists inform and engage the public about important environmental issues. The public wants to be up to date with regards to possible threats to their environment and their implications for human and ecological health. I would like to learn how to explain these issues clearly, objectively and in an engaging manner. I would like to close the gap and connect the ideas of scientists, policymakers and civil society in a way that is beneficial to all parties.

Being part of this trail will give me the opportunity to further my practical experience in the field. My aim is to give back to the community and benefit nature in any way possible whether directly or indirectly. This opportunity provides a stimulating environment in which I can serve this organization as well as gain invaluable experience for my own personal growth. Roving Reporters does incredible work in covering environmental issues.  Far more research is needed to improve our current knowledge and I believe I can make a worthwhile contribution to the field. Having the privilege of joining this expedition will give me the exposure I need to advance my career.
